BUTTERFLIES are my spirit insect.
Monarch Tree Nymph Swallowtail Morpho
TRANSFORMATION. When I think of my home’s evolution from ‘60s Prefab to the beautiful oasis I’ve coined, Château Chanel, I’m reminded of a caterpillar’s transformation to become one of the most dazzling creatures on God’s green earth.
STRENGTH. The metamorphosis of a butterfly requires patience, endurance, and most importantly, strength. Something so delicate has to overcome immense obstacles to reach its highest potential! This symbolism of strength helps me remain optimistic during tough times.
INDIVIDUALITY. No two butterflies are precisely alike. I love taking unique finds from a thrift or consignment store and giving them a cool upgrade with my personal touch.
I inherited this infatuation with butterflies from my Grandma. From the way she dressed, to home décor – her love was undeniable and life-long. I grew up seeing vibrant, colorful, unique butterflies scattered around our home. You’d spot them in the most subtle places – a cabinet drawer pull, spoon rest, or socket cover. And of course, we were always excited when a real-life butterfly magically appeared outside in the garden! Naturally, I’ve grown to adore and appreciate everything they are and represent.
My Grandma was strong, resilient, and gorgeous – just like a butterfly! I didn’t make the correlation until after she passed away, yet it’s now clear to me, her love and obsession truly complimented the essence of who she is. I fill my Château with butterflies to remind me of her beauty and how she truly blessed me with this sanctuary.

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT is the idea that small things can have an unpredictable impact on a complex system. People say a butterfly flapping its wings can cause a typhoon to illustrate this concept, but that’s a stretch. Small events can, however, serve as catalysts for other things to happen. My “butterfly effect” was that conversation I had with my Grandma about moving into the house. It sparked a series of events that changed my life, but I had no clue at the time.
FUN FACT – Did you know butterflies live on a strictly liquid diet? Now that’s a quality I wish I could emulate…lol.

It’s dolphins for me! Super intelligent, beautiful, and instinctive mammals who love to play in the water and support their pack family.
Dolphins!!! Love it! And sounds just like the Kimberly I know and love!
