I was gifted the most thoughtful and unique housewarming gift from my best girlfriend, a custom Château Chanel door knocker! She gives the BEST gifts, always figuring out something I never knew I REALLY needed. It took 4 years to get it in place on the front door, but it’s finally up and knock, knock, knocking away!
I was intimidated by what I’d imagined this install to demand, but I was surprised by how quick and easy it was. Check out the process:
Determining a position for the knocker came first. I counted the number of panels on the door to find the middle and measured to get the center point. Next, I estimated eye level (with the help of the wreath hook) and plotted the location with a pencil. I used Frog Tape to create a guide for the holes. I use this trick when hanging pictures to ensure the holes align, so I figured it would work here.
I pulled out the power drill and a small drill bit and made two pilot holes in the door at the spots noted on the tape before removing it. Next, I placed the screws in the holes from the inside of the door and aligned the knocker on the outside.
Finally, I made sure everything was aligned flush and screwed each screw into the back of the knocker.
I was convinced my paint color selection, BEHR – Skinny Jeans, would be the shining star of the front door, but when I added this custom knocker, it really leveled up!
Added a wreath and POW – A front door with pizzazz!

Knock! Knock! Who’s there? Candice. Candice who???
Candice door open, or am I stuck out here?
